About Tea Party Brewing

Nancy McKiernan, Owner & Founder, Tea Party BrewingRead Rocky Mountain News article about "Mini Her"

Tea Party Brewing is proud to be among the original members of the Tea Party movement, a grass roots effort to help stop a corrupt, out-of-control, overspending, overreaching, out-of-touch government.

One of our goals at Tea Party Brewing is to provide products that help Patriots promote and display their support for the Tea Party movement.  Another one of our goals is to help Patriots more easily find information about upcoming rallies, events, education and other resources.  Please contact us if you would like us to post an event or any other information on our site.  We welcome all Americans:  Republicans, Democrats, Independents, Libertarians, non-affiliated, etc.  Whether you're with a particular Tea Party group or 912 group, an activist or educational organization or the many others, we'd like to hear from you.  As our site grows and matures, we intend to list state-specific information by state.  We need and welcome your help in identifying such information.

I attended my first political rally on September 6, 2008 in Colorado Springs, a week after Sarah Palin was announced as John McCain’s VP running mate.  Shortly after that, I started volunteering for the McCain-Palin ticket.  After reading and learning more about Barack Obama, aka Barry Soetoro, I was becoming increasingly concerned about the future of our country, should he be elected.  With Sarah Palin on the Republican ticket, I became instantly energized and motivated to help stop that from happening, in whatever way I could.

Unfortunately my worst fears came true on Election Day 2008 (11/4/2008).  As I watched the results come in I felt distraught and helpless, without HOPE because of the CHANGE that I foresaw coming.  Obama did, after all, say he wanted to fundamentally change America.  I believe Obama's ideology is deeply rooted in Marxist principles.  Therefore the 'change' I saw coming was not change I welcomed.  I believed Obama would stop at nothing to try to accomplish his goals, despite consoling comments from friends and family who tried to convince me otherwise.  They argued that Obama would likely govern from the center and ‘checks and balances’ would stop him, even if he did try to push a radical agenda.  I didn’t agree.  With Obama at the helm, a Democratic majority in congress and too many corrupt politicians (both Republican and Democrat) putting party, lobbyist and special interest's needs before the needs of those they served, WE THE PEOPLE.... I was 'For the first time in my adult life', truly concerned about the future of my country.

I attended my very first protest on February 17, 2009 on the steps of the Colorado State Capitol in Denver, while Obama was at the Colorado Museum of Nature and Science signing the Porkulus Bill.  While participating in the protest, being among many like-mind people, I suddenly went from feeling completely hopeless to at least somewhat hopeful.  I was far from alone in believing if the Silent Majority banned together, started speaking out, educating others and taking action, we could save our country, take it back to its Constitutional roots, rather than watch it turn into something we might not even recognize.

On February 27, 2009, I attended my first Tea Party, on the EAST steps (low visibility compared to West steps) of the Colorado State Capitol in Denver.  A cozy group of around 200 attended…. pretty impressive for a barely advertised event taking place on a Friday morning.  I consider anyone who attended a Tea Party on February 27 amongst the real 'die-hards' and among the original 'Tea Partiers'.  I was in very good company.  Again, I felt hopeful and invigorated, being around like-minded people and making new freedom-fighting friends.

Shortly after attending this first Tea Party, I thought of an idea to create products to help advertise and promote my beliefs and those of the Tea Party movement.  I started Tea Party Brewing in order to do just that.  I designed a teapot with the words ‘Tea Party Brewing’ coming out of the pot as steam.  Buttons and t-shirts with various sayings printed inside the teapot, would become Tea Party Brewing's ‘signature’ product line.  In addition to helping spread the word, Tea Party Brewing has been able to help with the costs of running  Tea Parties, by donating a portion of the proceeds to the event organizers.  I scrambled, spending every spare moment preparing for Tax Day Tea Party 2009.  I took the day off of work on April 15th and arrived at the state capitol at 5:30 am, as  I wanted to arrive in time for the Peter Boyles show, which was broadcasting from the State Capitol that morning.  Having had no sleep the night before, I was functioning on pure adrenalin.  I showed up with my Tea Party merchandise and a 6 ft. x 3 ft.(or was it even smaller than that?) table to display them on.  Before I knew it, I was surrounded by and barely visible because of, an estimated 7,000 - 9,000 attendees.  The crowd seemed to love my products and many people thanked me for being there.  I have yet to attend an event where this has not happened.  This reaction helped motivate me to continue improving and growing Tea Party Brewing and trying to reach out to fellow patriots.

Nancy McKiernan, Owner & Founder, Tea Party BrewingThe next Tea Party I attended was on July 4, 2009, in Arvada, CO.  Although not quite as big as the Tax Day Tea Party, this Tea Party too was a big success.  It had a feeling of a family picnic and again I felt hopeful being around fellow patriots.

Next were the 912 Tea Parties held on 9/12/2009.   This day  was a double-hitter, with a 912 Tea Party in the morning and another Constitution Tea Party in the evening.  Again having no sleep the night before, I survived the day on adrenalin.  Both events again turned out to be a huge success.  When preparing for events, I often don’t know or even have a good estimate of the number of attendees until the day before, the day of, or sometimes not until after the fact.  An estimated 4,000 people attended the morning event, on an overcast, unseasonably cool day.  By the time the evening Tea Party started, it was pouring rain.  Several hundred people attended, despite the wet, messy, cold conditions.  The reaction to Tea Party Brewing was once again more than I could have expected and I felt honored to be a part of these two events, and a part of the Tea Party movement in general.

On November 3, 2009, Election Day, there we were again, in downtown Denver attending another Tea Party event, Tea Party Express' bus tour stop in Denver.  Wow!  What a difference a year can make.  This event took place at the Greek amphitheater in Civic Center Park.  I bet many of you weren't aware there's a 'real' Greek amphitheater in Denver and not just a fake one with styrofoam columns that once appeared at Mile High Stadium.   Again I wasn’t sure what to expect and was pleasantly surprised when several thousand patriots battled downtown traffic & parking, and showed up for yet another Tea Party.  I ran into several people I had met at previous Tea Parties, friends I met while volunteering for the McCain-Palin campaign and even a friend I met on Team Sarah.  The event was invigorating, fun and informative.  While there, it was announced Republican Chris Christie had won New Jersey’s gubernatorial race, beating incumbent Jon Corzine.   We all cheered, very loudly, upon hearing this good news.  Being from NJ, I was especially proud and pleased by this.  The Tea Party went very smoothly, other than a small protest by a handful of SEIU thugs.  The crowd, many who could see what was happening from the seats in the amphitheater, quickly began chanting USA, while moving towards the protestors, and put an end to their disruption.

Tea Party Brewing BoothThanks to the many of you who helped put this all together and to all who have stopped by Tea Party Brewing's booth.  I look forward to seeing you again at future events and meeting the many more of you I have not met yet.

Stay tuned for more news and updates as the Tea Party movement continues to unfold.
